Overview of Role
Background:
AQUITY Innovations NPC, a South African-based registered not-for-profit organization, was established in 2010. Our mission is to promote access to quality health and social services through innovations and technology. AQUITY’s programmatic focus areas include HIV, TB, health systems strengthening, capacity development Orphans and Vulnerable Children as well as other interventions targeting key populations.
Programme and Vacancy overview:
AQUITY Innovations NPC has been appointed by the National Department of Health to serve as one of the GLOBAL FUND TB Sub-Recipients (SRs) in South Africa. The project activities are implemented in Mpumalanga (Ehlanzeni district) and Eastern Cape province (Buffalo City Metro and Amathole districts) while the Head Office is in Pretoria.
As such we seek to employ the following for the Ehlanzeni District in Mpumalanga seconded to the Department of Health:
Registered Nurse Mentor x3
Salary: R59, 430.60 monthly CTC
Contract end date: 31 March 2028 subject to annual renewal
To provide onsite training and mentorship to facility staff and mentor mothers on VTP and MCWH related topic
Responsibilities
Key Performance Areas
Leadership
- Staff management to oversee Mentor Mothers programme to ensure VTP is running efficiently
- To conduct monthly meetings (or as needed) with Staff to determine progress, issues, recommended to optimise integrated service delivery
- To review and manage performance of mentor mothers once a month or as needed
- Ensure synergy between all relevant components of VTP;MCWH, SRH,EPI, IMCI, PrEP are operating effectively
- Capacity building of the professional nurses and any category as needed
Communication
- Compile monthly report and send to the line manager
- Share the training and mentorship schedule with the mentees and line manager
- Offer one on one mentorship to Professional nurses and other categories as needed
Stakeholder relations
- Participate in district meetings and engagements such as MCWH, HAST, Operation Phutuma Nerve centres, QIP and Global Alliance initiatives, etc
- Collaborate with the district training centre to conduct trainings
- Conduct weekly mentorship in facilities
Reporting & Monitoring
- Collaborate with M&E Officers to develop monthly data reviews
- Interrogate monthly data prior to monthly data review meetings with data and QI teams
- Verify weekly/monthly data shared with data team
- Discuss any identified challenges with data team and line manager early
Qualification
- A basic tertiary qualification in Nursing
- Proficiency in basic Excel, Word & PowerPoint
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
- Additional tertiary post basic qualifications
- NIMART & PMTCT training,
- Training in IMCI; SRH; PC 101; PrEP
- Mentorship
Experience
- 3 years’ experience in mentorship and staff management.
- Experience working in HIV and MCWH field
- Experience in training and mentorship
